Built in 1929, the bridge is named after Lord Laxman who is believed to have crossed the Ganga here on a jute rope. The 450 ft bridge sways underfoot. The areas on both sides are packed with rooftop cafes serving banana pancakes to backpackers.
Three runs available: 9 km (Brahmpuri to Rishikesh, beginner), 16 km (Shivpuri, intermediate), 26 km (Marine Drive, advanced). Operators meet you at NIM beach or Tapovan. Bring a change of clothes — you will get drenched.
Insider tips
Where the three holy rivers Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati are said to meet. The 6:30 PM aarti is smaller but more peaceful than Varanasi's. Float a diya in the river afterwards.
