About Kankaria Lake
Sultan Qutbuddin had this 34-sided polygonal lake built in 1451, complete with an island garden — Nagina Wadi — reached by a causeway. A redevelopment turned the perimeter into a family lakefront: a toy train circuit, a zoo, a balloon ride, kids' city and food stalls. It draws large evening crowds and is closed on Mondays for maintenance, which surprises a lot of visitors.
