About Sidi Saiyyed Mosque
Built in 1573 in the last year of the Gujarat Sultanate, this small mosque is famous for a single window. The Sidi Saiyyed Jaali is a stone lattice carved into the form of a tree with intertwining branches and palm fronds, cut so finely from a single slab that it appears woven. It became the emblem of Ahmedabad and the inspiration for the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad's logo. The mosque sits on a traffic island in the middle of the old city.
